At a meeting of the "Ala-Too" deputy group, entrepreneur Jasur Parpiev voiced alarming data about the closure of garment enterprises in Kyrgyzstan.

According to him, since September 2025, when serious problems in the industry began, at least 4-5 thousand sewing workshops have closed, and the number may be even higher.

"Five months have passed since the difficulties arose, but the garment industry has not received any real support from the authorities. When we have problems, no one shows interest in the situation. While I was checked for three months when opening a workshop, now no government agency is interested in what is happening. About half a million people work in this sector," noted Parpiev.

Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Sydykov was unable to provide exact data on the number of closed garment companies recently. He explained that many enterprises do not go through registration, which complicates the counting of the total number of active and closed workshops.
