In the Osh region, in the territory of the Nookat district, a large-scale initiative has been launched aimed at restoring the lost glory of tobacco cultivation. The Department of Agricultural Crop Expertise under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic organized a training seminar for local farmers, which is intended to be the beginning of increasing incomes in agriculture.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of high-quality seed varieties that can significantly change the economic situation in the region. Farmers were introduced to the famous "Virginia" — a variety known for its high yield and excellent adaptive qualities, as well as "Dubeck 44-07" — a variety that is ideally suited for challenging farming conditions due to its resilience to adverse factors.
Specialists from the ministry did not limit themselves to just distributing seeds but also provided detailed technological maps for their cultivation. Farmers received step-by-step instructions covering all aspects — from planting to methods for achieving maximum yield results. The press service of the Ministry of Agriculture emphasizes that the goal of such events is to abandon outdated methods and implement modern agronomic practices, which will allow southern farmers to become competitive on the international stage.
As a result of the seminar, participants received practical advice and answers to questions about the new varieties. The relevant ministry noted that training farmers in the Nookat district is just the initial stage of a long-term strategy aimed at developing the agricultural potential of the region and increasing the level of agronomic literacy among producers.
