Milk in Kyrgyzstan may become more expensive soon

Farmers are demanding an increase in the purchase price to 40-45 soms per liter of milk. This information was announced at a recent meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee dedicated to finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition development.

As reported by Aigul Nurumbetova, representing the interests of farmers, milk is currently being purchased at prices ranging from 28 to 42 soms depending on the region.

“Milk prices have dropped sharply. Some farming families do not even keep milk for their children, as they are forced to sell everything to buy food and pay for kindergarten. We ask the factories to set a uniform price of 40-45 soms, rather than dividing it into summer and winter prices,” she clarified, adding that farmers are ready to appeal to the president and the head of the GKNB if prices continue to fall.

Additionally, Baktybek Tuuganbaev, head of the LLC "Talas Daamy," noted that in the Talas region, one cow produces an average of 8 liters of milk, while in Belarus this figure is 20 liters, and in Russia — 15 liters.

“It is necessary to work on increasing productivity. The Ministry of Agriculture should think about how to do this; perhaps it is worth updating the breeds of cows or importing new ones,” he suggested.
