The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic held a meeting dedicated to the reconstruction project of the Bishkek - Chaldovar road. Information about this was provided by the ministry's press service.

Participants in the discussion included Deputy Minister Baktyluu Mombekov, Regional Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for Kyrgyzstan Aiten Rustamova, as well as Head of the European Union Delegation Remy Duflo and French Ambassador Nicolas Fay.

During the meeting, it was reported that donors are ready to allocate 50 million euros for the project, of which 15 million euros will be provided as a grant. The implementation of the project is supported by the European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Currently, a feasibility study is being developed, which will propose solutions for the reconstruction of the road. After its completion, work will begin on financing issues and the timeline for the start of construction, which remains uncertain at this time.

The ministry emphasized that the project is of great importance for the development of international transport corridors, enhancing the country's transit potential, as well as improving the safety and quality of road infrastructure. Meeting participants discussed the current state of project preparation, coordination issues with government agencies and international partners, as well as further steps for its implementation.

As a result of the discussions, the parties confirmed their readiness for joint work on the project.

It is important to note that the section of the road from Kara-Balta to Chaldovar, which is 31.7 km long and was built in the 1970s and 1980s, requires major repairs. Currently, its condition is maintained only through ongoing repairs and rough surface treatment.
