Recently, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Transport and Communications dedicated to the reconstruction project of the Bishkek - Chaldovar road. This was reported by the press service of the ministry.

Participants in the discussion included Deputy Minister Baktyluu Mombekov, Regional Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for Kyrgyzstan Aiten Rustamova, as well as the head of the European Union delegation Remy Duflo and French Ambassador Nicolas Faye.

According to Kaktus.media, donors are allocating 15 million euros, which will be used to prepare the feasibility study (FS) for the road reconstruction project. This initiative is being carried out with joint funding from the European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

“Currently, an assessment of the road's condition and an analysis of all its features are being conducted. After this work is completed, a feasibility study will be developed, which will propose solutions for the reconstruction of the route. As soon as the FS is completed, discussions on financing and the start of work will begin. Exact timelines have not yet been determined,” the ministry noted.

Additionally, the ministry emphasizes the importance of the project for the development of international transport corridors, increasing the country's transit potential, as well as improving the safety and quality of road infrastructure. Meeting participants discussed the current status of the project, coordination issues between government agencies and international partners, as well as further steps for its implementation.

As a result of the dialogue, all parties expressed their readiness for further cooperation within the framework of this project.

It should be noted that the section of the road from Kara-Balta to Chaldovar, which is 31.7 km long, is in need of major repairs. This part of the route was built in the 1970s-80s, and its asphalt surface requires serious restoration. Currently, the road is maintained only through ongoing repairs and rough surface treatment.
