Nurlan Maksutov, Kyrgyzstan's representative to the World Trade Organization, confirmed that the republic supports WTO reforms. In particular, this concerns the restoration of the dispute resolution system and increasing support for developing countries. This information was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
From March 26 to 29, the 14th WTO Ministerial Conference took place, where participants also discussed issues of enhancing the transparency and inclusiveness of the organization.
The main topics of discussion included traditional areas such as agriculture and development, including specialized regimes for least developed countries and landlocked countries.
Additionally, emphasis was placed on new priorities: e-commerce, simplifying investment procedures, environmental sustainability, and negotiating fisheries subsidies.

In the context of geopolitical tensions, disruptions in supply chains, and increasing protectionism, the WTO continues to play a crucial role in ensuring the stability and predictability of global trade.
Kyrgyzstan also called for strengthening the special and differential treatment regime, expanding technical assistance, and improving access to the dispute resolution system for resource-limited countries.
As a result of the conference, most countries, including Kyrgyzstan, supported the draft Ministerial Statement on WTO reforms, although it does not fully reflect all national priorities.
In Bishkek, it was emphasized that the WTO remains an important tool for ensuring international trade based on transparent and predictable rules, and that the organization's reforms are a key direction for further work.
