On March 9, a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh responsible for science, education, innovation, information technology, culture, sports, and youth policy took place, during which a draft law concerning amendments to the law "On Physical Culture and Sports" was reviewed. The project was approved in the first reading.

Urmati Asanbaev, the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, noted that the purpose of this document is to create conditions for the development of adaptive sports, including disciplines for athletes with hearing impairments.

The draft law proposes to introduce norms into the legislation regulating deaflympic sports, as well as to define the procedure for interaction between republican sports federations and state bodies. The experience of athletes who were part of the national team will also be taken into account in their work experience.

The Deaflympics, held since 1924 and recognized by the International Olympic Committee, represent international competitions for athletes with hearing impairments. More than 100 countries participate in these games, and Kyrgyzstan has been a participant since 2009.

On the international stage, Kyrgyz athletes are showing excellent results. For instance, at the XXIV Summer Deaflympics in Brazil in 2022, the country's team won 6 medals (2 silver and 4 bronze). At the Asia-Pacific Deaflympics in Kuala Lumpur in 2024, they won 18 medals and placed sixth in the overall team standings.

Additionally, the draft law proposes to introduce an accreditation mechanism for republican sports federations, which should improve state regulation and control in this area.

The draft law also includes proposals to ensure the safety of spectators at mass sporting events, which is particularly relevant in light of preparations for the VI World Nomad Games scheduled for 2026 in Kyrgyzstan.

It is also proposed to take into account the participation of athletes in the national team when calculating their work experience (non-insurance). The developers are confident that this will improve the social protection of athletes and enhance the prestige of engaging in sports.

The adoption of this draft law will be a step towards the development of inclusive sports in the country, increasing social support for athletes, and improving the organization of sporting events in Kyrgyzstan, while additional funding from the republican budget will not be required.
