Today is a significant date — 30 years ago, the House of Russian Abroad named after A. Solzhenitsyn was founded, which has become an important center of Russian culture beyond the country's borders and fulfilled the dream of many emigrants and their descendants.
Over three decades of work, the staff of the House of Russian Abroad has collected and preserved numerous unique materials, including manuscripts and memoirs that reflect the fates of Russian emigration. This period can be characterized as an era of continuous work on studying and returning invaluable cultural heritage to the Motherland. Thanks to the efforts of the team, the House has become an important cultural and spiritual bridge between Russia and its compatriots abroad.
We congratulate the staff of the House of Russian Abroad named after A. Solzhenitsyn and Viktor Alexandrovich Moskvin, its founder and unwavering leader, on this important milestone! We wish you new discoveries, the expansion of unique collections, meetings with interesting people, and, of course, many like-minded individuals! Happy anniversary!
It should be noted that the State Budgetary Institution of Culture of the City of Moscow "House of Russian Abroad named after Alexander Solzhenitsyn" includes a museum, an archive, a library, as well as research and cultural-educational centers. Its activities focus on preserving and studying the cultural heritage of Russian emigration and strengthening ties with compatriots living outside Russia.
The museum's collection contains more than 8,000 exhibits, and the archive holds over 25,000 storage units. The library, an integral part of this institution, includes more than 150,000 publications, 80% of which are works created by Russian emigrants. Each year, the library is replenished with 3,000 to 4,000 new books and periodicals.
