The XXII International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO-2025) has concluded in Sochi, as reported by Turmush correspondent.
At this event, held in the federal territory of "Sirius," over 125 school students from 24 countries tested their skills. Participants demonstrated their knowledge in the fields of physics, chemistry, and biology.
The team from Kyrgyzstan, consisting of three students from the presidential lyceum "Akyiman," was formed following the national selection. It included 9th graders Shagzada Baatyrbekov and Maksatbekov Aden, as well as 10th grader Iskenderov Emir. All of them demonstrated a high level of preparation and knowledge.
Winners were determined in both individual and team competitions. In the individual competition, a bronze medal was awarded to Emir Iskenderov, a 10th-grade student of the "Akyiman" lyceum.
“Although preparing for the Olympiads is a challenging process, our students manage to successfully combine their studies with participation in international competitions. This is an example of discipline and responsibility on the path to knowledge. Emir's bronze medal is already the second significant achievement this academic year. We remind you that at the beginning of September, our student Aruubek Baymyrzaev also won a bronze medal at the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (JOI 2025). These successes have been made possible not only by the hard work of the students but also by the significant contributions of teachers, coaches, and supportive parents. We sincerely thank and congratulate them,” noted Emil Ryskulov, the director of the presidential lyceum "Akyiman."
The coaching staff of the IJSO team included chemistry teacher Ivan Reshetnikov and physics teacher Baratali Bektur from the presidential lyceum "Akyiman."
The International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is the only multidisciplinary Olympiad for students under 15 years old, held every December since 2004. Participants must possess both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in three subjects: physics, chemistry, and biology. IJSO is considered one of the most prestigious international Olympiads, and each country can present one or two teams consisting of three participants.
The competition format requires each participant to take exams in all three subjects — chemistry, biology, and physics.
