According to the head of the road maintenance enterprise No. 3, Uluk Musa уулу, traffic on the Barskoon–Ak-Shyyrak route has been restored. Snow drifts at the Soök pass have been successfully cleared, and travel is now possible.
In some sections of the road, the snow cover reaches 40-50 cm. Since December 8, traffic had been suspended due to heavy snowfall, but thanks to the work of road machinery, the situation has stabilized.
During a patrol, one of the road workers reported that on the night of December 10-11, 2025, the temperature at the pass dropped to -30-32°C.
This week, a snow cyclone hit several regions of Kyrgyzstan, causing significant traffic problems in the mountainous areas of the Issyk-Kul region.
On December 10, there was severe traffic congestion on the Tyup–Kegen highway due to snowfall and blizzards, resulting in over 200 vehicles being blocked. To address this issue, personnel from the Department of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Road Maintenance Department were involved, using special equipment.
In the village of Zelyony Gai, located in the Jeti-Oguz district, there were also transportation difficulties as the roads were snow-covered. As a result, schoolchildren were unable to reach their educational institutions. The head of the local administration requested assistance in clearing the roads.
At the Soök pass, traffic was suspended due to a snowstorm, where the snow cover reached 70 cm. In the Ak-Suu district, roads were also closed due to blizzards, but thanks to the efforts of local authorities, traffic was soon restored.
Additionally, on December 10, a bus that got stuck on the Tyup-Kegen highway was successfully pulled out of the snowdrift and continued its journey to Almaty.
