On the slopes of the Kyzart Pass, located in the Jumgal District of the Naryn Region, one can find an ancient stone structure that once served as a prison.

AmanTur Moldoysaev, a local resident, shared information that this prison was built "during the struggle against the bai-manaps, during the existence of the Red Army."

Cholpon Usenova, also from the Jumgal District, recounted that this stone building served as a transit point for convicts being transported from Jumgal to cities such as Naryn, Balykchy, and Bishkek.

She added: "At that time, prisoners could not cross the Kyzart Pass in one day, so they were stopped for the night in this prison. Also, during the Soviet years, this place was used as a transit point for those sending young men to military service. After resting, they continued their journey to Frunze or Balykchy."

Usup Zholdosh uulu, another local resident, noted that this stone structure functioned as a prison for about 20 years.

"Previously, criminals were held in the prison of the village of Chaek, and if necessary, they were sent to Naryn or Balykchy. They were either led on foot or transported in carts. The road was long, and this stone structure served as a stopping place. Criminals from neighboring villages were also held there. There is a story about a policeman named Samudin who allowed a criminal named Bekturgan to escape. This place was not meant for long-term detention. There are also mentions of a policeman from Kyzart named Satar," he added.

Aibek Nurmanbetov, another villager, spoke about his grandfather, who fell victim to repression. He spent only one night in this stone prison before being taken further away.

"From the 1930s to the 1950s, this structure was used as a prison. One of my ancestors, named Bazarbay, was repressed and taken away on foot by soldiers. Bazarbay ata is buried in the memorial complex 'Ata-Beyit'," he noted.
