In Osh, on Kokum-Biy Street, a building accommodating 280 children has been returned to municipal ownership and is currently undergoing major renovations.

According to data from the city hall, kindergarten No. 18, which was located on this site, closed its doors 32 years ago. An inspection revealed that in 1998, the building was transferred to private hands in violation of the law.

On January 8, Osh Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev checked on the progress of the kindergarten's renovation. "This building originally belonged to the state, but for 30-40 years it changed hands multiple times and eventually ended up in private ownership. Various institutions were housed here — from a university to barracks. We filed a lawsuit, won the case, and are now completely renovating this building at the expense of the city budget. As a result, we will have a kindergarten with 280 places," the mayor noted.
He added that there are no kindergartens in the area from Kokum-Biy Street to the village of Kenesh, which forces local residents to send their children to preschool facilities located in the city center.

Currently, work is ongoing to replace the roof, finish the interior, and construct playgrounds. The project is expected to be completed and the kindergarten opened by January 25.
