It is known that de Souza used synthol injections to increase the size of his biceps, which led to his premature death. This substance, consisting of a mixture of mineral oil and alcohol, is considered extremely dangerous. The athlete later regretted his decision and warned others against such practices: “I do not advise anyone to take this oil,” he said shortly before his death.
Arlindo was hospitalized on Catholic Christmas with kidney failure. Unfortunately, he passed away on January 13.
“His lungs began to fill with fluid, and he did not make it to dialysis because of a cardiac arrest. The death certificate has not yet been issued, but the cause was likely multiple organ failure,” his niece reported.
According to information, de Souza's enormous biceps were the result of injections he administered himself, rather than the result of training. Doctors repeatedly warned him about the consequences of such procedures, including the risk of abscesses and possible amputation.
Ten years ago, Arlindo spoke to British journalists about his friend Paulinho, who also used dangerous injections and died. After his death, de Souza claimed he had stopped such practices.

It is also reported that Arlindo was known by several aliases, including Alindo Anomaly and Alindo Montanha.
