The withdrawal of children's formulas from the "Nestlé" brand in Kyrgyzstan became known thanks to information from the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Department. The reason for the recall is the detection of the toxin cereulide, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea in children.

The recall affects dry instant milk, fermented milk, and lactose-free formulas, such as NAN 1 OPTIPRO, NAN OPTIPRO 2, NAN EXPERTPRO, NAN 2 OPTIPRO, PRENAN, and NAN LACTOSE FREE, produced within certain dates.

It has been reported that the distributor of Nestlé baby food, the company OsOO "Forester," initiated the voluntary recall of the products itself.

The recall is being conducted due to the potential risk of the presence of the cereulide toxin in the raw materials, specifically in arachidonic acid. The official distributor has already begun withdrawing these batches from stores across Kyrgyzstan.

The department strongly recommends that consumers check the name and production date of their formulas. If they match the recalled batches, they should immediately stop using them and contact the distributor for a return.

The manufacturer clarifies that the recall affects a limited number of batches that may contain the cereulide toxin.

Cereulide is a toxin produced by certain strains of the bacterium Bacillus cereus and is resistant to high temperatures. Symptoms that may occur from consuming contaminated products can include vomiting and diarrhea, which resemble food poisoning or an allergic reaction to cow's milk proteins.

Previously, similar batches of Nestlé baby formulas were recalled in Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
