Information about the voluntary recall of several batches of baby food from the company "Nestlé" was communicated to the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance by the official distributor of the products in Kyrgyzstan, the company OsOO "Forester".

It has been reported that the central office of LLC "Nestlé Russia" decided to recall certain batches of baby food, including dry instant milk, fermented milk, and lactose-free formulas under the brands NAN 1 OPTIPRO, NAN OPTIPRO 2, NAN EXPERTPRO, NAN 2 Optipro, PRENAN, NAN LACTOSE FREE, which were produced on the specified dates.

This recall is a precautionary measure as part of Nestlé's global initiative to withdraw products that may pose a potential hazard.

The reason for the recall was the identification of a risk of the presence of the toxin cereulide in the raw material (arachidonic acid). The official distributor has already begun the process of withdrawing the mentioned batches from the retail network in Kyrgyzstan.

In light of this situation, the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Service urges consumers to check the names and production dates of the baby formulas they are using. If they match the batches subject to recall, it is recommended to discontinue their use and contact the distributor for a return.

According to the manufacturer, the recall concerns a limited number of batches that may contain the cereulide toxin.

Cereulide is a toxin produced by certain strains of the bacterium Bacillus cereus, which is resistant to high temperatures and is not destroyed by boiling. Symptoms that may arise after consuming products with high levels of this toxin can include vomiting and diarrhea, which may resemble manifestations of food poisoning or an allergic reaction to cow's milk proteins.
