The second round of the recall concerns vehicles that may contain metal shavings left over from the manufacturing process, which could lead to serious engine problems. Affected models include the 2022–2024 Toyota Tundra, the 2022–2024 Lexus LX, and the 2024 Lexus GX, but only those with the twin-turbo V35A V6 versions without a hybrid option. Drivers may experience rough operation, engine knocking, starting issues, or, particularly concerning, complete engine failure while driving.
Models of Toyota equipped with this engine are available in the Kyrgyz market, including the Land Cruiser 300, Lexus LX 600, and GX 550.
In 2024, Toyota had already recalled over 100,000 Tundra and Lexus LX vehicles for a similar reason. At that time, the company pointed to insufficient cleaning during production, which could lead to the formation of small particles in the crankshaft oil channels, potentially restricting lubrication and causing engine problems.
These issues negatively impact Toyota's reputation, known for its commitment to reliability and high rankings in JD Power surveys.

Toyota notes that "a solution to address this issue is currently being developed," but this was already stated a year ago before the company decided to replace all engines in 102,092 vehicles with similar defects.
It is worth noting that this recall has not yet involved the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration); Toyota has chosen the path of a voluntary recall. Owners of the affected models will be notified of the situation by January 2026, and they will likely be pleased to receive a new engine with zero mileage if the manufacturer decides to offer that.
