In Kyrgyzstan, the Department of Disease Prevention and Sanitary-Epidemiological Surveillance reported receiving a notification from Forester LLC – the official distributor of Nestlé products.

According to the information provided, the central office of Nestlé in Russia has initiated a voluntary recall of certain batches of baby food. This concerns dry instant milk, fermented milk, and lactose-free formulas under the brands NAN 1 OPTIPRO, NAN OPTIPRO 2, NAN EXPERTPRO, NAN 2 OPTIPRO, PRENAN, NAN LACTOSE FREE, produced on the specified dates.

This recall is being conducted as a precautionary measure and is part of a global initiative by Nestlé related to a possible risk of the presence of the toxin cereulide in the raw material (arachidonic acid).

The official distributor has already begun withdrawing the specified batches from sale in the country.

The Department recommends that consumers check the name and production date of the baby formula they are using. If they match the recalled batches, they should stop using the product and contact the official distributor for a return. Sellers are also advised to temporarily suspend the sale of these batches and ensure their withdrawal from circulation.

According to the manufacturer, the recall concerns a limited number of batches that may contain the toxin cereulide. This toxin is produced by certain strains of the bacterium Bacillus cereus, is resistant to high temperatures, and is not destroyed by boiling. Consumption of products with high levels of cereulide can cause vomiting and diarrhea, symptoms similar to food poisoning or an allergic reaction to cow's milk proteins.
