In the city of Osh, there has been an increase in cases of seasonal flu and ARVI, which has forced the temporary closure of 12 educational institutions for quarantine. As reported by Muzafar Akhmedov, head of the disease prevention department at the Osh Center for Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, the situation requires attention.

Akhmedov noted that other schools are also experiencing a significant decrease in attendance, leading to partial quarantines in certain classes.

He explained that there has been a rise in illness over the past two weeks. "We are conducting constant monitoring. The epidemic threshold has been exceeded, which is an annual trend. Usually, the peak of illness occurs in January-February, but this year the outbreak has come earlier. If an educational institution sees an increase in the number of sick students and a decrease in attendance, we recommend closing it for a week. Currently, 12 schools and several classes are under quarantine," said Akhmedov.

According to the epidemiological service, in recent days, 448 tests have been conducted in Osh, of which 93 showed the presence of seasonal flu. There have also been 4 reported cases of COVID-19.

Experts emphasize that the epidemiological season lasts from October until the New Year. The epidemic season for 2025-2026 is currently ongoing. "Before the start of the season, recommendations for strengthening preventive measures against acute respiratory infections were sent to all schools, kindergartens, and medical institutions," added Akhmedov.
