In the Jalal-Abad Region, 9 educational institutions were closed due to ARVI and hepatitis A
According to her, 3 schools and 6 kindergartens have temporarily suspended their operations due to an outbreak of acute respiratory virus and hepatitis A among children, as recommended by doctors.
“Recently, there has been an increased number of cases of acute respiratory diseases in our country, including the Jalal-Abad region, especially among children under 14 years old. For example, in November, the region recorded 4,288 new cases. The peak of the disease occurred in the last week of November, when 1,700 illnesses were reported. In this regard, medical professionals are conducting constant monitoring of educational institutions. As of December 3, in the Chatkal district, where there is an increase in cases of influenza and hepatitis A, 3 schools have switched to distance learning, and 6 kindergartens have been closed for quarantine. Monitoring continues in other districts,” noted P. Eshenkulova.
She explained that if the number of sick children in an educational institution reaches 20-30% of the total number, that institution is subject to closure and quarantine.
Since the beginning of the year, 20,788 cases of acute respiratory diseases have been recorded in the Jalal-Abad region, which is 30.7% more compared to the same period last year, when 14,600 cases were registered. The majority of those affected are children under 14 years old, with 13,523 cases among minors.
Typically, during the autumn-winter period, there is an increase in cases of influenza and colds; however, last year, a surge in cases was also recorded in January, February, and March. From March to September, the level of illness decreased.
