The doctor strongly recommended that parents avoid hospitals
During broadcasts on "Birinchi Radio," the head of the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, Dinara Otorbaeva, stated that quarantine in educational institutions may be introduced if 20% of students become ill with ARVI or influenza.
In situations where the number of children absent due to illness is high, it is possible that individual classes will switch to online learning, while the entire school may continue to operate.
“In Bishkek, there has been a single case where an educational institution was completely closed due to a mass illness. The decision to close schools for quarantine is not made by our department. We only provide recommendations to the education departments and coordination centers,” Dinara Otorbaeva explained.
She also urged parents not to send sick children to school and to avoid self-treatment.
“When symptoms of ARVI appear, it is better for parents to avoid visiting hospitals to prevent catching another virus. I recommend calling the Family Medicine Center to find out if a hospital visit is necessary,” noted Dinara Otorbaeva.
According to her, an increase in the number of ARVI and influenza cases is expected.
“There is a possibility of an increase in morbidity. We urge caution, but unfortunately, people continue to infect each other during holidays and in public places. The current weather conditions are conducive to the survival of viruses. In public transport, several people can become infected, who then pass the virus to their loved ones,” the doctor added.
According to the Ministry of Health, over 42,000 cases of ARVI and influenza have been registered in the past week. In the country, 207 schools have already switched to online learning, and 214 kindergartens are closed for quarantine.
