The number of kindergartens and places for children has significantly increased over the year
According to the Ministry of Education, there are currently 1,997 full-day kindergartens operating in Kyrgyzstan, accommodating 257.3 thousand children. This is an increase of 85 kindergartens and 23.4 thousand children compared to 2024. According to the National Statistics Committee, the coverage of preschool education is 32.3%, which is 4% higher than in the previous academic year. If we consider preschool preparation, the overall coverage of children in preschool education for the 2024–2025 academic year is 44.3%.
In 2025, a new state educational standard for preschool education and child care was approved, and a program focused on the development of children aged 1 to 6 years was created. Additionally, an early development assessment tool for children aged 4–5 years was developed, which includes a development map and methodological materials for educators and parents.
In various regions of the country, the establishment of 560 preschool educational institutions has been completed, including 500 short-term kindergartens and 60 development centers. The system for issuing vouchers for preschool education has also been fully automated. Low-income families and children with disabilities receive compensation ranging from 2,000 to 4,560 soms per month. In the 11 months of 2025, 1,117 applications were submitted for the voucher system.
On the "Balalyk" platform, a unified registry of all kindergartens in the country has been created, regardless of their ownership form. To optimize the use of facilities, 570 kindergartens received 927 million soms, which allowed for the creation of an additional 419 groups and the acceptance of 10,707 children. More than 900 jobs were created in these new groups.
As part of the preferential lending program, 17 million soms were issued for the construction and reconstruction of kindergartens, resulting in the opening of 4 new kindergartens. Additionally, in 2025, 25 previously privatized kindergarten buildings were returned. As a result, 91 preschool institutions were opened over the year, of which 32 were newly built.
