Gulya Kozhokulova: "The main thing is to adhere to the Constitution and not rush events"

Gulya Kozhokulova, a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, shared her opinion on the recent significant personnel changes in the highest governmental structures and answered questions regarding potential candidates for the speaker's position, as well as the upcoming presidential elections.

- Gulya Akmatkulovna, how do you assess the chances of electing a new speaker? Who do you think could take this position after the resignation of Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu?

- At the moment, it is difficult to predict, but the candidacy of Marlen Mamataliyev is actively being considered in the media, which seems the most likely. Currently, the factions are negotiating and consulting, so the final decision is still ahead.

- What do you think about the situation surrounding Kamchybek Tashiev? Will he be able to run in the elections? Society is divided into two camps on this issue.

- Frankly speaking, I cannot say. Every citizen has the right to participate in elections if they meet the criteria established in the Constitution, including age and experience. These are fundamental points. Ultimately, it all depends on the choice of the people.

- Nevertheless, there are rumors that if he decides to participate in the elections, he could win, considering the support in the south.

- Discussing such predictions is not entirely appropriate at this time. It is important to wait for the decision of the Constitutional Court. Let’s not rush to conclusions. Only after receiving its conclusion on all legal aspects will the situation become clearer.

Among lawyers, there is a saying: "Gather three lawyers — you will get five opinions." To avoid misunderstandings, a clear and competent interpretation of the Constitution is necessary. I urge everyone to adhere to the norms of the Constitution and not make populist statements.

Our society is quite mature and politically active, which is very important. Citizens realize that the future of the country is in their hands. Using the current situation for narrow selfish interests would be wrong. Such questions arise from time to time in any country, and I do not see anything extraordinary in this, as it is being presented. Even the recent statement by the speaker about resigning from his position indicates his political maturity and understanding that no one should cling to power at any cost. Everyone understands that the main thing is peace and stability in the country.
