At the meeting of the Collegium of the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovations of the Kyrgyz Republic, Edil Baisalov, who holds the position of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, was present.
In his speech, he emphasized that the establishment of the new Ministry is a strategically important step aimed at significantly updating the higher education system and the scientific sphere of the country.
“The Ministry has been given a clear task — to make universities centers of attraction for talents, sources of modern knowledge, and the main driving forces for the country's development for many years to come,” noted Edil Baisalov.
Highlighting the implementation of the president's decree on granting special status to several universities, he mentioned the differences in the results achieved.
“Some educational institutions have been able to take advantage of new opportunities and achieve noticeable progress. However, there are also those that are still waiting for clarifications and decisions. The waiting period has come to an end,” stated Edil Baisalov.
He also added that in the coming weeks, the Presidential Administration, together with the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovations, will strengthen coordination in the process of accelerated modernization. This includes reviewing curricula, eliminating outdated subjects, optimizing ineffective areas, and introducing new courses that meet the demands of the modern economy.
As a result of the meeting, key areas for reforming the higher education and science system were identified, specific tasks were formulated, and corresponding instructions were given. The implementation of the adopted decisions will be under special control.
