In 2026, an important project for updating electrical networks will continue in the Issyk-Kul region: more than 2000 outdated wooden poles will be replaced with modern reinforced concrete ones. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan.
The wooden poles that are to be replaced were installed in the 1960s and 70s and have long exceeded their established service life, being in an emergency condition.
The implementation of new reinforced concrete poles will significantly increase the reliability of electricity supply, reducing the number of emergency situations and ensuring a stable supply of electricity for consumers.
As part of the project for 2026, it is planned to carry out replacement work on the following distribution electrical stations (RES):
- Ak-Suu RES – 258 poles
- Karakol RES – 260 poles
- Jeti-Oguz RES – 263 poles
- Ton RES – 543 poles
- Cholpon-Ata RES – 314 poles
- Tyup RES – 229 poles
- Balykchy RES – 282 poles.
The completion of the installation of reinforced concrete poles is scheduled for the end of November 2026.
It is worth noting that in 2025, the installation of more than 1500 reinforced concrete poles was already carried out, which significantly updated the worn-out sections of infrastructure in several settlements in the region.
The new reinforced concrete poles to be installed in 2026 will be produced in a specialized workshop of the enterprise for the manufacture of reinforced concrete products, which has been operating since 2017 at the Balykchy RES. This workshop manufactures poles of the SV-110 and SV-95 brands, fully complying with modern quality and reliability standards.
The implementation of these measures is a key step towards increasing the resilience and efficiency of electricity supply in the region. The modernization of the energy infrastructure in the Issyk-Kul region will continue in the future.
