The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Marlen Mamataliyev, held a meeting with school directors of Bishkek.

At the meeting, which took place in the parliament's conference hall, information was discussed regarding the upcoming "Clean City" competition, which will start on March 1 of this year. Schools that take prize-winning places will receive significant awards.

“In recent years, President Sadyr Japarov has initiated a number of large-scale measures aimed at protecting the environment and developing a green economy. In this regard, many events are being organized. I am confident that the "Clean City" competition will be a continuation of these initiatives and will help improve the ecological situation in our capital,” the speaker noted.

Additionally, he touched upon the issue of developing the education sector.

“This year, a salary increase for teachers is planned, and this is just the beginning. We will continue comprehensive support. The Jogorku Kenesh will actively work on strengthening the legislative framework to improve working conditions for teachers and promote the development of the education sector. It is time to make changes to the relevant laws to meet modern requirements,” he emphasized.

The speaker also expressed his views on issues related to student behavior. He believes that teachers cannot be solely blamed for this.

“It is important to remember that the foundations of upbringing are laid in the family. If parents, teachers, and society are involved in the educational process, we can raise a worthy generation,” he added.

At the end of the meeting, Marlen Mamataliyev wished success to all participants of the "Clean City" competition.

“This competition not only contributes to maintaining cleanliness in our city but also inspires the younger generation to be conscious citizens and care for the environment. Work is the foundation of children's future; it develops their responsibility towards society. Such initiatives should be spread to other regions as well. We must strive to turn our country into a green and prosperous state. As our great predecessor Iskak Razakov said: ‘If you are clean, if I am clean, then society will be clean.’ Each of us is obliged to care for the environment and contribute to the country's development,” concluded the speaker.

It is worth noting that the competition for collecting plastic waste will take place from March 1 to May 1, 2026. The school that collects the most plastic waste will be the winner.

The project is being implemented with the support of the Jogorku Kenesh, the Bishkek mayor's office, the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports under the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan.

Marlen Mamataliyev also announced his readiness to provide financial support from his reserve fund.
