The Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic has decided to extend the spring break, which is an important step for schools and parents. The rest period will now last from March 2 to March 7, 2026, increasing by four days compared to the previously planned schedule (March 6–8).
The ministry clarified that to compensate for the extended break, four school days will be made up in May. As a result, the end of the 2025–2026 school year will be moved from May 25 to May 29, 2026, and the "Last Bell" ceremony will take place on that day.
Why Extended Breaks are Important for Children
The psychologist Aizhamal Isamidinova commented on the significance of additional rest for schoolchildren, as contacted by the editorial office of the "Kabar" agency.

“Additional days off create opportunities for rest, communication with loved ones, and active leisure, which is extremely important for the psycho-emotional growth of children. This time helps reduce anxiety and stress levels, strengthen emotional health, and improve concentration when returning to studies,” she noted. She also emphasized that moving the date of the "Last Bell" to May 29 gives students more time to prepare for this important event, which contributes to better organization of the celebration and reduces stress before exams.
How Missed School Days Will Be Compensated
The Ministry of Education reported that the missed days will be accounted for in the curriculum in May, allowing the educational program for 2025–2026 to be completed without loss. Thus, students will be able to enjoy additional days off without compromising their academic performance.
The extension of the spring break demonstrates that the education system in Kyrgyzstan takes into account not only academic achievements but also the psycho-emotional state of children, as well as the importance of events that promote the unity of students, parents, and educators.
