"Impersonated a police officer and extorted money": Arrest conducted jointly with GKNB employees

A man has been detained in Osh for extorting money while posing as a police officer.

This information was provided by the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the city of Osh.

According to available data, on the night of March 9, 2026, around 03:00, near the "Semetey" cinema located on I. Razakov Street, an unknown individual, identifying himself as "Eldiyar," claimed to be a police officer. He approached a resident of the Osh region, T. Zh., born in 2003, threatening him by saying, "You spoke poorly about my younger sister." After that, he began to threaten him with various forms of punishment, including the possibility of imprisonment.

"To resolve the situation in his favor, he used physical force and extorted 10,500 soms from the victim, also taking his passport. Later, he contacted the victim again by phone, demanding another 5,000 soms, threatening: 'If you don't give it, you'll be imprisoned.'

After the incident, the victim, J.T., filed a complaint with the Internal Investigations Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Osh region. Based on her statement, a service check was initiated, and the collected materials were forwarded to the investigative department of the Ak-Buurin police station of the Internal Affairs Department of the city of Osh for legal assessment.

As a result of the investigation, on March 11, 2026, a criminal case was initiated under Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic ("Extortion").

On March 12, 2026, during operational search activities on U. Salieva Street, the suspect was detained while attempting to extort money from the victim again and was taking his mobile phone. The operation to detain him was conducted jointly with employees of the Internal Investigations Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Osh region, the Ak-Buurin police station of the Internal Affairs Department of the city of Osh, and the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The detainee, J. uulu J., born in 2001 and a native of the Uzgen district, has no connection to law enforcement agencies. He is currently being held in the temporary detention facility of the Internal Affairs Department of the city of Osh, and investigative actions are ongoing," the press service reports.
