Officers from the criminal investigation department conducted operational activities, resulting in the detention of the suspect, who, identifying himself as a police officer, intimidated residents and demanded money from them.
The incident occurred on February 2, 2026, around 8:00 PM. A temporary resident of the city of Osh was called by phone to the "Deluxe" hotel. Upon arrival at the scene, an unknown individual, introducing himself as an employee of the "Morality" department of the Osh Regional Internal Affairs Department, demanded 15,000 soms without presenting any identification. He threatened arrest for a period of 3 to 5 days, used obscene language, intimidated the man, and took 15,000 soms from him. Moreover, he demanded that the victim pay him 10,000 soms weekly.
In connection with this fact, a criminal case has been initiated under part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning extortion, and investigative actions have begun.
Additionally, a similar incident occurred on the night of January 31 to February 1, 2026, at 12:16 AM on A. Shakirov Street. The suspect, identifying himself as "Ruslan," claimed to be a police officer and demanded 20,000 soms from a 32-year-old citizen, A. uulu Zh. He also threatened arrest in case of refusal.
Despite the victim stating he did not have enough money, the suspect snatched the wallet from his hands and openly took 7,700 soms, after which he demanded the remaining money and left the scene.
A criminal case has been registered in connection with this fact under part 3 of Article 206 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning robbery.
As a result of operational activities, a 30-year-old resident of the Kara-Suu district of the Osh region named K.N. was detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the city of Osh. It has been established that he has had repeated legal issues in the past. During the initial stage of the investigation, it was revealed that the man committed crimes while posing as a "police officer" and intimidating citizens, the source reported.
