The judicial panel in the Jalal-Abad region reviewed the decision in the case of the murder of a teenager in the Nooken district, sentencing the accused to 12 years of imprisonment.

The court proceedings established that on the night of August 25 to 26, 2023, a resident of the Nooken district, B.K.S., born in 1981, was near a post office in one of the villages of Shaidan when he opened fire with a MOSSBERG-930 shotgun in the direction of a group of teenagers. As a result of the shot, 15-year-old M.E.T. (name changed), born in 2008, sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head and subsequently died in the hospital's intensive care unit without regaining consciousness.

Initially, the Nooken District Court qualified the actions of the accused as murder under a lesser degree of the article, sentencing him to 8 years of imprisonment. However, the prosecution filed an appeal, arguing that the legal assessment was incorrect and that the shooting posed a danger to the lives of several people.

Witnesses E.T. and D.T., questioned during the investigation and court hearings, confirmed that they were at the scene. They reported that they were sitting next to the victim when B.K.S. drove up in a car and began to take out his gun. After the shout of "they're shooting, run," they tried to take cover, but B.K.S. fired in their direction and drove away. Upon returning, the witnesses saw Erkin on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. E.T. added that his uncle O.T. took the injured person to the hospital.

The accused stated during questioning that upon seeing E.T. in the place where he had previously been beaten, he returned home, took the shotgun and ammunition, and went back. According to him, he fired in the direction of E.T., and the bullet ricocheted and hit Erkin, which caused his death.

B.K.S. claimed that he did not intend to kill anyone and that the teenager's death was accidental, as he simply wanted to scare his opponent, who had threatened him.

The judicial panel concluded that the district court did not take into account that B.K.S. intentionally left home with a weapon and ammunition and fired at a group of people, indicating an incorrect qualification of his actions.

Thus, the previous sentence issued on June 9, 2025, was deemed unreasonable and was overturned, with a new finding of guilt for the accused and sentencing in accordance with the law.

On November 24, 2025, the appellate panel of the Jalal-Abad Regional Court agreed with the prosecution's arguments. The court noted that the accused deliberately used a firearm, having taken it from home and shooting towards people, being aware of the consequences. The defense's arguments regarding the accidental nature and lack of intent were found unconvincing.

As a result, the sentence was changed: the actions of the accused were requalified to murder, dangerous to the lives of many people, and he was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment under Article 122, Part 2, Clause 6 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The defense's complaints were dismissed.

In September 2023, Turmush reported that a 15-year-old schoolboy died from a gunshot wound in the Nooken district of the Jalal-Abad region.

It was preliminarily established that on the night of August 25 to 26, 2023, a local resident, Sanjar (name changed), born in 1981, was near the post office and began shooting towards a group of teenagers. Erkin sustained a head injury and died at the scene.

Erkin's funeral took place on August 27.

According to the Jalal-Abad Regional Internal Affairs Department, a criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident under Article 122 ("Murder") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The police established that on the night of August 25 to 26, at approximately 00:30, a resident of the Shaidan ayil district, S.B., born in 1981, fired at a group of children near the post office, resulting in the 15-year-old teenager sustaining a fatal injury.

The Nooken District Internal Affairs Department is conducting an investigation into the case. The suspect S.B. has been placed in a temporary detention facility for a period of two months.

The sentence of 12 years of imprisonment took effect upon announcement and may be appealed in cassation to the Supreme Court.
