Last July, Turmush reported on the detention of suspects in the murder of a taxi driver in Balykchy.
On July 3, a 22-year-old local resident, Sh. Ch., contacted the Balykchy police department to report her father, 64-year-old B. Sh., a taxi driver, missing. She stated that he had disappeared on July 2 around 5:00 PM, and his phone was turned off.
During operational activities on July 4, B. Sh., born in 1961, was found dead in the dacha settlement “Abrikos,” showing signs of violent death — he had been strangled with a shoelace.
This case was registered in the Unified Register of the Balykchy police department, and a criminal case was initiated under Article 122 (“Murder”) of the Criminal Code.
On July 6, two suspects were detained — K. M., a resident of Balykchy born in 1996, and J. K., a resident of Cholpon-Ata born in 1994. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for 2 months.
The panel of the regional court noted that there was no evidence against Kalmurat regarding two episodes of theft of money, documents, and a mobile phone from a house and a car in Balykchy, therefore he was acquitted on these counts. The case materials have been forwarded to the prosecutor for the identification of the actual offenders.
