Ashim Mamazhakypov, a resident of Batken, has created a small veterinary tent next to his home, where he provides assistance to animals daily. In his practice, he performs numerous surgeries, demonstrating his dedication to preserving the health of his patients.

With a degree in veterinary medicine, Ashim began his career in 2017 after graduating from the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after Skryabin in Bishkek. Throughout his career, he gained experience by interning at the National Agrarian Academy of Russia. “I have always been around animals; I treated them myself as a child. After returning to Batken, I initially worked from home and then organized a veterinary tent where I can now provide full assistance. Previously, my main patients were small livestock and large animals with injuries, but now I am increasingly seeing pets, including dogs and cats,” Ashim shared with a Turmush correspondent.

Interestingly, in the past, Ashim also faced the problem of stray dogs in the area. However, with recent control measures, their numbers have decreased. “Some dogs come to me for treatment and stay, like one that has been living with us for a week. She has two fractures, but we are working on her recovery,” the veterinarian added.

In addition to his veterinary practice, Ashim is also engaged in entrepreneurship. His home has a bakery where he produces bread and pastries for local stores. Later, he opened a small café in the city center. Since 2018, Ashim has been actively involved in volunteer work, being part of the Red Crescent in the Batken region. Last year, he received an international award in Istanbul for his assistance during the evacuation of people during conflicts and the COVID-19 pandemic, when his team baked bread for free and distributed it to those in need.

“Volunteering has taught me a lot, including the basics of baking. With the support of my wife, we received funding and were able to expand the business. Now we have a café, and the trophy from Istanbul has inspired me for further achievements,” Ashim noted. He plans to open a full-fledged veterinary clinic in Batken by 2026 and has already reached agreements with city authorities regarding land allocation and support from investors.

Ashim is 34 years old, a proud father of two children, and his story inspires many to take an active life position and a desire to help those around them.
