In the Sokuluk rural district, located in the Chuy region, residents have reported attacks by stray dogs on domestic animals. These incidents have raised serious concerns among the local population.

Villagers note that in recent months, the number of stray dogs in the area has significantly increased. As a result of one of the recent attacks, expensive Arashan breed sheep were harmed. "The situation with stray dogs in Sokuluk has become critical. They have killed our Arashan sheep. This happened last week, and now we are afraid that with the start of the school year, the dogs may start attacking children," local residents say.

Cattle owners are appealing to local authorities to take measures to control the population of stray dogs to prevent possible tragedies.

In April 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Regional Development introduced a new Kyrgyz meat-fat breed of sheep called "Arashan."

The main characteristics of the "Arashan" breed:

- Developed between 1970 and 2021 in the farms of Kyrgyzstan. The breed was created using Hissar rams brought from Tajikistan in 1977, which were crossed with local ewes. Second-generation animals were bred "in themselves" to achieve the desired characteristics.

- They possess excellent meat-fat qualities, have a large body, a fat tail, high growth rates, and are adapted to life in high-altitude and steppe conditions.

- Arashan sheep have a compact structure, strong constitution, and robust skeleton.

- Rams and ewes are hornless.

- The live weight of 7-8 month-old lambs ranges from 48 to 61 kg, one-year-old sheep from 60 to 78 kg, and adult rams from 109 to 177 kg.

- Four genealogical lines have been formed.

There are 5,832 sheep of this breed in the country. The average cost of a lamb is 1,000 dollars, while that of a sheep is 5,000 dollars.
