Baykar, a well-known Turkish manufacturer in the defense sector, has announced its latest innovation — the K2 kamikaze drone, equipped with advanced artificial intelligence. This UAV has the capability for autonomous flight in a "swarm," can independently recognize targets, and strike at distances of up to 2000 kilometers.

The K2, with a warhead weighing 200 kg, can take off from unprepared sites and is designed for multiple uses, making it one of the most modern and dangerous assets in Turkey's arsenal.

The company reported that during tests, five K2 drones operated autonomously, using built-in sensors and software to navigate among themselves without operator intervention. The drone can be utilized in various tactical formations. It is also equipped with a visual target recognition and automatic acquisition system, allowing it to strike targets based on specified coordinates as well as in real time. Additionally, the K2 is capable of performing navigation tasks without the use of signals from global satellite systems like GPS. Orientation is achieved through terrain analysis based on data from the onboard camera and night vision system. Data transmission occurs via line-of-sight radio channels or satellite communication. The presentation of the new drone took place against the backdrop of information about the company's export contracts: in 2025, Baykar signed agreements worth $2.2 billion with 37 countries. The company's product line also includes the TB2, Akıncı, TB3, and Kızılelma drones. According to the developer, there is consideration for creating a modification of the K2 that would be able to return to base after completing its combat mission.
