The opening of accreditation in the Green Climate Fund (GCF) has become an important event for JSC "Eldik Bank," which has become the first financial institution in Kyrgyzstan with this status. This fund is a global leader in financing climate initiatives and projects aimed at combating climate change.
The GCF Board made the decision on accreditation during its regular meeting. This status indicates the bank's compliance with international standards in corporate governance, environmental and social risk management, as well as its ability to effectively implement investment projects with the involvement of international financing.
With the accreditation, "Eldik Bank" gains the opportunity to directly access GCF resources, creating additional conditions for attracting long-term investments in Kyrgyzstan. This will allow for the implementation of projects aimed at improving climate resilience, developing energy-efficient technologies, sustainable infrastructure, and other key areas of the economy.
Representatives of JSC "Eldik Bank" view this accreditation as a strategically important step in strengthening their position as a financial institution that facilitates the attraction and effective use of international resources to support the sustainable development of the country.
Achala Abeysinghe, Director of the Investment Services Department of the Green Climate Fund, noted:
“We are pleased to see JSC 'Eldik Bank' among the accredited organizations of the Green Climate Fund. This accreditation expands access to climate financing in Kyrgyzstan and promotes the attraction of private investments to support national climate goals.
The Green Climate Fund aims to partner with national financial institutions, which enhances countries' accountability for climate actions and increases their capacity to scale sustainable investments. The updated GCF accreditation framework will contribute to greater transparency, flexibility, and efficiency, emphasizing the principles of fairness and country ownership in these processes.”
Ulanbek Nogaev, Chairman of the Board of JSC "Eldik Bank":
“The status of accreditation in the Green Climate Fund is a significant achievement for our bank. It confirms that we meet international standards and are ready to cooperate with global climate financing instruments.
We see this status as a practical tool for attracting long-term resources and directing them to projects that are critical for the economy of Kyrgyzstan. Our task is to ensure the effective and transparent use of these funds to support sustainable development and enhance the country's climate resilience.”
