The Main Department of Internal Affairs of Chui Region commented on the information regarding the reduction of police staff in Tokmok.

At a meeting, Tokmok City Council deputy Cholpon Sydykova reported that the number of employees in the Tokmok Internal Affairs Department has decreased from 132 to 120. She noted that the building of the drug trafficking control department is closed and pointed out the shortage of district inspectors. With a population of 75,000, the city has only 21 district inspectors.

In response, the regional police noted that the meeting also discussed issues related to the allocation of land for a new Internal Affairs building, the shortage of district officers, the work of patrol and post service (PPS) units, and the status of documentation for a residential building for police officers built in 2017.

According to the Main Department of Internal Affairs, the land for the new administrative building was indeed allocated by the city council. The documentation has been completed, and on March 25, 2026, the plot was transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs by the decision of FUGI. Currently, preparatory work for construction is underway.

The work of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Chui Region and its subdivisions is carried out in strict accordance with the orders and directives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, taking into account the operational situation in the region. The staffing distribution of employees depends on the workload and the crime situation in specific areas.

To enhance the effectiveness of the fight against drug trafficking, a specialized department operates in the region. The personnel of the separate PPS battalion ensures public order and prevents offenses, while the Tokmok PPS staff works under the guidance of the head of the city Internal Affairs Department.

Tourist squads have been established based on the PPS, responsible for the safety of foreign citizens and guests of the country, especially during peak winter and summer seasons.

Each district inspector serves up to 3,000 citizens in rural areas and up to 4,000 in cities and urban-type settlements in accordance with established standards.

Thus, as reported by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Chui Region, the current number of employees in the Internal Affairs Department in Tokmok corresponds to the assigned tasks and allows them to effectively fulfill their official duties.

As for the residential building for police officers that was commissioned in 2017, a verification is currently being conducted to finalize its status.
