The champion of Kyrgyzstan in sambo, Bediarbek Kadyrbek uulu, who is 34 years old, has been officially named a "Baatyr" of the Jalal-Abad region. This status was conferred upon him during the preparations for the World Nomad Games, where he has an important task — to deliver water from the region to the event venue.

Among twenty candidates, Bediarbek was chosen for this honorable mission. He serves in a separate company of the special forces regiment "Shumkar" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, based in the city of Manas. In 2021, Bediarbek won the title of national champion in sambo.

Hailing from the village of Jany-Diykan in the Suzak district, Bediarbek has been serving in "Shumkar" since 2018. "Serving in law enforcement has been my dream since childhood. I have always been close to sports, so adapting to service was easy for me. Physical fitness is crucial in our profession. Many of my colleagues in our department are involved in sports and defend the honor of the country. The leadership always supports us in this," he shares.

The decision to nominate Bediarbek for the role of "baatyr" was made jointly by the administration of the Suzak district and the regiment's command. "I gathered all the necessary documents and came for an interview, where I met 19 other candidates — most of them were well-known athletes. Nevertheless, I was chosen. The main criterion was physical fitness, so now I am combining service with intensive training. My family received this news with joy," Bediarbek recounts.

He is the youngest in a family of five siblings and is currently raising two daughters on his own.
As part of the cultural project "Birimdik Kerbeni" ("Caravan of Unity"), Bediarbek will need to deliver sacred water from the spring near the mausoleum of the prophet Idrys in Chatkal to the capital. He stands 202 cm tall.
In 2021, he became the champion of Kyrgyzstan in sambo, was a prizewinner at the Gordeev Championship, and a medalist at the Ministry of Internal Affairs Championship of Kyrgyzstan in 2023. The working group has determined that the water will be taken from the underground spring at the mausoleum of the prophet Idrys, and the ceremony for collecting the water in a special vessel — "kökör" — is scheduled for June 10 to 15.

The "Caravan of Unity" project is a national water relay symbolizing the unity of the people of Kyrgyzstan and the value of life at the World Nomad Games. Until June 2026, the selection of "baatyrs," ambassadors of the project, and iconic water sources continues in the regions of the country.

In June 2026, the main "baatyr" of the country will ascend to the glaciers of Peak Khan-Tengri to fill the main vessel with melted water. During this time, ceremonial events for filling regional vessels will take place across all regions.

By August 15, 2026, "baatyrs" from all seven regions will deliver the vessels to Bishkek to the main water storage site, which will be open to visitors. On August 31, 2026, the day of the opening of the VI World Nomad Games, a ceremonial caravan will proceed to the capital's stadium.
Organizers note that during the opening ceremony, water from all regions of Kyrgyzstan and water brought by delegations from participating countries will be combined into a single stream, symbolizing global unity, harmony, and respect among nations.
