In Naryn, within the centralized library system named after Jumagul Konurbayeva, four branches are functioning, as reported by the director of the institution, Nurzat Esenkanova.

According to her, these branches cover both the eastern and western parts of the city, providing access to library services for local residents.

The total volume of the library's book collection is 70,407 copies. Currently, in accordance with the ministry's directives, the process of decommissioning outdated publications is underway. At the same time, there is an observed increase in government support aimed at updating the collection.

As noted by N. Esenkanova, the library receives significant support from local authorities, particularly from the city hall of Naryn. The institution employs 19 staff members, with a staff formation of 17.5 units.

“In recent years, there has been significant attention to library affairs, with plans for salary increases and reforms. We are confident that these changes will have a positive impact on the development of this sector,” she added.

The personnel policy is also under close scrutiny. Young specialists are replacing experienced librarians, and they are required to have relevant education. Employees also undergo professional development courses. In the certification planned for 2024, librarians demonstrated high results.

Despite changes in attitudes towards reading, there is a growth in the number of readers. This is especially true for young people and the elderly. The older generation most often chooses historical books, newspapers, and magazines, among which the oldest library reader is a person over 80 years old.

To attract new readers, various events are organized, including reading relays that involve institutions and organizations in the city, as well as mobile book exhibitions. There is also a focus on presentations of new books and the promotion of authors' works.

The library actively engages with readers, offering new services such as book delivery. Orders can be made through an app and picked up at the nearest branch.

In the digital age, the library is actively represented on social media. Audio fairy tales for children are created and published online, and this initiative is gaining more and more views.

“This has become an effective method of engaging young readers. Some teachers are starting to use these materials for educational purposes,” she said.

Additionally, the library actively collaborates with kindergartens, providing fairy tales for educators. Staff members have created a small studio where they prepare audio and video materials.

Mass events are held not only within the library walls but also in parks during the summer, and mobile libraries contribute to the increase in the number of readers.
