Speaking to those gathered, Sergey Vakunov emphasized that the year 2026, declared in Russia as the Year of Unity of Peoples, takes on special significance against the backdrop of global instability. He noted that interethnic harmony and commitment to traditional values are the foundation for the sustainable development of states. The Ambassador expressed gratitude to compatriots for their contribution to the preservation of the Russian language, culture, and historical memory, highlighting their participation in humanitarian and educational initiatives.
In his report, Vakunov also focused on legal issues, stressing the importance of protecting the interests of compatriots and preventing discrimination, especially in light of the tightening requirements for knowledge of the state language in the republic. He called for active resistance to attempts to distort historical facts and to preserve objects of common cultural heritage. This year, major commemorative events are planned, such as the "Immortal Regiment," "Georgian Ribbon," "Candle of Memory," and "Garden of Memory," with an emphasis on youth participation.
The award ceremony was the highlight of the conference. Zulfiya Khaibullina, the organizer of the "Immortal Regiment" movement in Kyrgyzstan, was awarded a commemorative medal "80 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945" on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation.
In conclusion of the event, the Ambassador reminded attendees of the upcoming political event: elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation will take place from September 18 to 20, 2026. Voting polling stations will be opened in Kyrgyzstan. Conference participants adopted a resolution expressing support for the state policy of Russia aimed at protecting the rights of compatriots and strengthening the unity of the Russian world.
