The general education school No. 11 in the city of Karakol is now named after Zhangoroz Kanimetov — an outstanding educator, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, and former deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, who served in three convocations.

The official re-registration of the name with the justice authorities was completed on March 13, 2026.

Zhangoroz Kanimetov was awarded the title of State Advisor of the II class, as well as the badge of Excellence in Education of the Kyrgyz SSR and the USSR, and became a distinguished teacher of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The director of the educational institution, Joombartbek Karybaev, noted that the 2025–2026 academic year has become significant for the school for several reasons. In 2026, the school will celebrate its 60th anniversary, and the official naming after Kanimetov will take place.

As part of the Ministry of Education's program "Sector Development: Reform of School Education," with the support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the school is preparing to become one of the 23 innovative educational institutions in the country.

The school was founded in 1966 under the name of M. Gorky Secondary School, and it received the status of a gymnasium in 1991.

From 1991 to 2009, the educational institution was called Gymnasium No. 11 named after M. Gorky, and in 2009, after accreditation, it was renamed "General Education Gymnasium No. 11 of the city of Karakol."

- Nadezhda Musina (1978–1999);

- Kuliza Osmonalieva (1999–2016);

The Deputy Director for Educational and Extracurricular Activities, Aibek Asanbekov, reported that in the 2024–2025 academic year, graduate Kasyet Dogdurbaeva scored 232 points on the ORT and became the holder of the "Golden Certificate." Additionally, eight graduates exceeded the threshold of 200 points, enrolling in prestigious universities in Kyrgyzstan and abroad. Students of the school regularly take prize places in republican Olympiads.
