A new state rehabilitation center for people with drug dependencies is set to open in Kyrgyzstan. This announcement was made on January 28, 2026, following a meeting between Health Minister Kanibek Dosmambetov and renowned narcologist Professor Zhenishbek Nazaraliev.
During the discussion, issues related to improving the state rehabilitation system for drug addicts were addressed.
The rehabilitation facility will be located at the existing center that focuses on the recovery of post-stroke patients, situated in the village of Dachnoye in the Alamedin district. It is expected that the new center will have 80 beds. At the same time, patients who have suffered a stroke will receive treatment at the Kyrgyz Scientific Research Institute of Resortology and Rehabilitation located in the village of Vorontsovka, depending on their medical indications.
Kanibek Dosmambetov noted that the spread of synthetic drugs, especially among youth, has become a serious threat to national security. In this regard, the Ministry of Health plans to intensify preventive measures and rehabilitation efforts, working in collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Education. In particular, awareness-raising activities for students in schools and universities are planned.
The minister also emphasized the importance of preventing the activities of illegal rehabilitation facilities and the need to create a transparent and controlled state system to assist people with dependencies. In light of current challenges, an action plan for the state anti-drug program is being developed for the next five years.
Professor Zhenishbek Nazaraliev expressed his readiness to support the Ministry of Health in the methodological provision of the rehabilitation center's operations and in attracting experienced specialists in the field of rehabilitation and restorative treatment.
