Ministry of Health and UNICEF Strengthen Cooperation in Immunization and Digitalization

During the meeting held on February 12 at the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, Deputy Minister for Digital Development Temirbek Erkinov discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of health with Samman Jung Tapa, a representative of UNICEF.

According to information provided by the ministry, the discussion covered both the current state and future prospects of cooperation, including issues of sustainable vaccine supply, optimization of their procurement and distribution, as well as improving the efficiency of immunization programs.

UNICEF representatives noted significant successes in strengthening the cold chain, which allowed for achieving 80% coverage with specialized equipment for vaccine storage. The supply of refrigerators and pickups for the safe transportation of vaccines to medical institutions was also discussed.

Particular attention was paid to the quality and safety of vaccines supplied through UNICEF, as well as the digitalization of procurement and logistics management processes, the implementation of modern information technologies, improving the transparency of procedures, and enhancing supply monitoring. Temirbek Erkinov was informed about UNICEF's intention to support the construction of a National Vaccine Warehouse with a total budget of 1,267,000 USD.

During the conversation, joint actions within the framework of ongoing programs and projects aimed at strengthening the immunization system, increasing health resilience, and expanding access to preventive services were also considered.

Finally, the parties confirmed their interest in further developing the partnership, including the preparation of a Joint Action Plan for 2026-2027, as well as expanding technical and expert support and sharing experiences in vaccine procurement management.
