The 50th session of the Working Group on General Debate on the Human Rights Situation begins in Geneva at the Human Rights Council.

In accordance with resolution 60/251 of the UN General Assembly, adopted in 2006, all member states are required to submit regular reports on the state of human rights and the fulfillment of international obligations. Mongolia submitted its reports in 2010, 2015, and 2020. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Chair of the Human Rights Council, Razvan Ruzu, and representatives from 78 countries spoke. The speakers emphasized the importance of discussing Mongolia's fourth report and highlighted the significant progress made in the field of human rights, as well as presented recommendations for further steps. An expert group consisting of representatives from various ministries, such as the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, and others, responded to the questions and recommendations presented by member states. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including children's rights, child labor, the rights of the elderly, freedom of the press, the right to freedom of expression, protection of LGBTQI from discrimination, domestic violence, air pollution, gender equality, independence of the judiciary, and the fight against corruption. In the future, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs intends to develop an action plan in collaboration with interested organizations to implement the received recommendations and submit it for government approval.
