NASA will launch a crewed mission to the Moon in early 2026

A press release published on NASA's website states that the launch of the Artemis II mission, which includes a crewed flight to the Moon, is scheduled no later than April 2026.
According to the publication, NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen will spend about ten days in space, orbiting the Moon.
According to ArsTechnica, as part of Artemis II, a crewed spacecraft named Orion will be sent to the Moon. This spacecraft will be launched using the Space Launch System (SLS) super heavy rocket in early 2026.
SpaceNews reported in May that Lockheed Martin has already delivered the Orion spacecraft to NASA for the Artemis II mission, during which four astronauts will perform a crewed flyby of the Moon.
In March, ArsTechnica noted that specialists at the Kennedy Space Center are already preparing for the Artemis II launch by moving the first stage of the SLS rocket into position between the two solid rocket boosters.
