
During the meeting, Erdogan noted that the conversation with Putin took place in a constructive atmosphere. According to him, the parties had a "successful, fruitful, and comprehensive discussion." He also invited Putin to visit Turkey at a convenient time for him, and they agreed on the necessity of a meeting soon. Putin, as Erdogan noted, accepted this invitation. The Turkish side hopes for a quick visit from the Russian president.
Furthermore, Erdogan emphasized that the relations between Turkey and Russia are based not on short-term interests, but on strong historical ties and mutual trust.
An important part of the discussions was also the situation regarding the conflict in Ukraine and its peaceful resolution. Erdogan noted that Putin is aware of Ankara's position on this issue. He added that Turkey believes the conflict should have been resolved much earlier and openly states this to its partners.
Vladimir Putin was in Ashgabat on a working visit, where he participated in a forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, as well as the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and the International Day of Neutrality.
During his visit, Putin held a number of bilateral meetings, including negotiations with the presidents of Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
