In southern Germany, in Bavaria, an unexpected incident occurred: about 50 sheep "invaded" a Penny supermarket, creating a brief but chaotic mess. The animals were in the store for about 20 minutes while employees tried to usher them out by banging on the counters, reports The Telegraph.

In the video capturing this event, the flock can be seen entering the sales area and then, frightened, leaving it. The German broadcaster ZDF noted that "the sheep caused real chaos" and joked that they took the store's slogan "First to Penny" literally.

According to media reports, the sheep strayed from their path, separating from the main flock of 500. The shepherd explained that the animals decided to enter the supermarket, mistaking a bag of groceries for feed. This amusing incident attracted the attention of not only local residents but also the German embassy in London.

In a statement, the embassy said: "On Monday morning, 50 runaway sheep caused a real commotion in a supermarket in a Bavarian village. Having separated from their flock, they wandered around the store for 20 minutes before leaving it."

The Penny supermarket reported that it would provide the sheep with a year's supply of feed, noting that this incident became an unexpected way to draw attention to the store.
