As part of the World Economic Forum Week, this event became an important platform dedicated to issues of geopolitics, economic security, and the future of the global tourism sector.
In his address, Kubanychbek Omuraliev revealed the strategic prospects of the Turkic Council in the field of tourism and cultural interaction. He emphasized that tourism can serve as a powerful tool of soft power, fostering international trust and stability in regions by increasing mobility and interaction among peoples.
The Secretary General also noted how the countries of the Turkic region are adapting their state policies to the goals of sustainable tourism aimed at strengthening economic resilience. He provided specific examples of tourism initiatives being implemented within the framework of the Turkic Council, including the Initiative for the Development of the Turkic Silk Road and efforts to expand international cooperation in this area.
During the forum, Omuraliev held meetings with high-profile participants, including giving an interview to Euronews. He highlighted the growing economic potential of the Turkic region and the broad opportunities for tourism cooperation. As the Secretary General noted, the Turkic states, stretching from Anatolia to Central Asia and from the Caspian Sea to Altai, are at the crossroads of civilizations and trade routes, making them attractive to foreign tourists — about 100 million a year, which is an important achievement for the community.
Among the participants of the forum were world leaders such as the Prime Minister of Mongolia, Gombodjavyn Zandanshatar, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Harini Amarasuriya, the Chairman of Euronews, Pedro Vargas David, as well as ministers and representatives of the private sector from various countries.
Discussions at the forum addressed the role of tourism in ensuring national economic resilience and the participation of the state in global governance. The program also included dialogues on public-private partnerships and round tables on sustainable development aimed at enhancing climate resilience and achieving carbon neutrality in the hospitality industry.
