The International Ivan Yarygin Cup, held in Krasnoyarsk, is considered one of the most significant tournaments in the world of freestyle wrestling and takes place from January 29 to February 1. On January 30, medals were contested in several weight categories for both men and women. Details are presented by MiddleAsianNews.

Special attention was drawn to the match between Munkh-Erdene and North Korean wrestler Han Chong Song, who is the youngest world champion in his weight category. The Mongolian wrestler won decisively, finishing the match with a score of 13:1.

Munkh-Erdene Bathuyag
It is worth noting that Munkh-Erdene Bathuyag, who became the winner of the Yarygin tournament in 2026, previously won a medal at the U-23 World Championship in 2023 in Tirana. Interestingly, he and his coach arrived at this championship at their own expense, as the Mongolian team did not participate, and they ultimately achieved success by earning a place on the podium. At the 2025 World Championship, Munkh-Erdene lost in the 1/8 finals to Armenian wrestler Arsen Arutyunyan with a score of 8-13.

Bronze medals were also won by Mongolian wrestlers: Bolortuyaa Khurelkhuu in the -59 kg weight category and Enkhjin Tuvshinzhargal in the -65 kg weight category.
