Mongolian Judokas Won Three Medals at the Grand Slam Tournament in Abu Dhabi

Gonchigsuren Bathuyag won a gold medal in the +100 kg category
In this tournament, which gathered the best judokas from 52 countries, the Mongolian team, consisting of 15 athletes under the guidance of honored coach Nyamlkhagva Purevdorj and his colleague Boldbaatar Khaliun, managed to win one gold and two silver medals. On the first day of the competition, the silver medal in the men's 60 kg weight category was won by honored athlete Ariunbold Enkhtaiwan, becoming the first medalist for Mongolia. The second day brought another silver medal, which was earned by honored athlete Enkhriilen Lkhagvatogoo in the women's 63 kg weight category.

The final day, November 30, was marked by a gold medal for international master Gonchigsuren Bathuyag, who competed in the over 100 kg category. He triumphed over opponents such as Estonian Karl Priilinn, Russian Denis Bachayev — the junior world champion, Georgian Irakli Demetrashvili, and Olympic bronze medalist Tamirlan Bashayev, who also holds world championship medals. After the world championship, Gonchigsuren won three consecutive tournaments: the Grand Slam in Ulaanbaatar, the Grand Prix in Qingdao, and the Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi. Additionally, international master NaranTsetsgeg Ganbaatar placed seventh in the women's 48 kg category, while Nominzul Dambadarjaa finished fifth in the over 78 kg category.

Out of the 52 countries represented at the tournament, 26 managed to win medals, including 11 golds.

During the tournament in Abu Dhabi, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Judo Federation also took place, during which Battulga Khaltmaa, president of the Judo Association of Mongolia, was elected as a council member and appointed as the director of training.
