The USA shot down an Iranian drone that approached the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln

This photo, published in August 2024, shows the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier in the Pacific Ocean.
According to American sources, the aircraft carrier was about 800 kilometers off the southern coast of Iran when the Shahed-139 "unnecessarily" changed course towards the ship. The drone was shot down by an F-35 fighter jet, as clarified by a Reuters representative.

Meanwhile, six Iranian military boats began moving towards the US-owned oil tanker Stena Imperative in the Strait of Hormuz. They demanded that the vessel stop its engines and prepare for towing, reports the British maritime security company Vanguard Tech, as conveyed by AFP. The Iranian agency Fars claims that the tanker illegally entered Iranian territorial waters, after which Tehran requested the necessary permits from it.

The USA and Iran plan to hold negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program, scheduled for February 6. The Iranian side insists on moving the meeting from Istanbul to Oman, according to Axios information.

In recent weeks, the United States has hinted at the possibility of a military strike against Iran. However, on January 31, President Donald Trump stated that Iran and the USA are in "serious negotiations." Trump also added that he would make a decision on further actions based on the outcomes of these negotiations.
