The number of US military aircraft at the military base in Jordan has increased

At the "Muwaffaq Salti" base, there has been a significant increase in the number of American military aircraft, which is related to the escalation of tensions between the US and Iran. According to The New York Times on February 21, this is based on satellite imagery and flight data.

According to the publication, satellite images taken on Friday show more than 60 strike aircraft — nearly three times the usual number of equipment stationed at this base. Additionally, since February 15, at least 68 transport aircraft have landed at the facility. Some of the additional fighters may be in shelters.

Furthermore, the satellite images revealed modern F-35 fighters, which are typically not stationed at this base, as well as drones, helicopters, and new air defense systems.

Earlier, Reuters reported an increase in the number of American aviation assets in February at the "Al Udeid" base in Qatar.

Jordanian authorities informed the publication that the deployment of American aircraft and equipment is being carried out as part of a defense agreement with the United States.

US President Donald Trump previously stated that a "massive armada" is heading towards Iran, expressing hope for an agreement on Tehran's nuclear program. In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that the republic intends to defend its right to enrich uranium, even if it leads to military conflict.
